A typical house generally found in the Uttaranchal villages.

The house is made of Wood, Stones, Mud and Paathar* for roofs. Cemented houses are rarely seen. The ground floor is generally used as sheds for the cattles and the first floor is used for residence.

*Paathar : It's a thin layer (about 1-2 inches) of black rock and is used to cover the roof in the village houses.
