Harsil is situated on the way of Gangotri temple at a distance of 24 km from Gangotri. The idol of Goddess Ganga is brought down from Gangotri in winters to Harsil’s neighborhood village Mukhba.
Gangotri is a sacred Hindu temple which is situated in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand state. It is one of the four temple in the Chota Char Dham circuit. Gangotri temple is open for six months in a year and closed for the remaining six months due to climatic conditions and heavy snowfall. Gangotri has many places to see near it.
