Ali Bedni Bugyal is one of the most beautiful alpine meadows situated in Uttarakhand, located at the border Garhwal and Kumaon in Chamoli district.
The trek to Bedni Bugyal and Ali Bugyal passes through lush green grassy land, conifer forest clinging into the slopes of hills and steep climbs. Bedni Kund in Bedni Bugyal holds great religious importance amongst the locals.
Arrive at Lohajung and meet our trek guide, stay at a hotel or homestay in Lohajung. You can also choose to drive to Wan on the same day if you feel like staying in the village. The jeep ride is 10-12 kms
How to reach Lohajung: The drive from Kathgodam to Lohajung is long but pleasing as it passes through popular hill stations of the Kumaon region. If traveling in a group you can book a cab to Lohajung or else you can break the journey into two parts. First, take a bus/shared cab to travel from Kathgodam to Gwaldam then travel from Gwaldam to Lohajung. Ideally, Lohajung is the last road head but jeeps do travel from Lohajung to Wan on Kachha Raasta. There are a couple of shops and a handful of guesthouses at Lohajung. Overnight stay in the guesthouse.
The trail goes through the Wan village and giant deodar trees. The climb is gradual. It will take 4-5hrs time to reach Ghairoli Patal. It is the last camping site onwards to Bedni Bugyal.
We climb uphill to exit the forest and enter the meadows of Bedni. Trishul and Nanda Ghunti Peak will be visible from here. We can further hike towards Ghora Lautani to map the length and breadth of Bedni Bugyal. We descend to Ghairoli Patal by evening. Packed lunch will be provided while we are off hiking this trail. We can start early this day to make the most of it.
We venture on a route situated on the right side of Ghairoli Patal to climb Ali Bugyal. The distance is around 4kms steep climb from here but totally doable. April is perfect time to do this trek as Rhododendrons will be at their blooming season. We explore Ali Bugyal to reach a vantage point to get the glimpse of this beautiful ridge meadow. By evening we come down to Ghairoli Patal.
We end the trek in Wan and drive to Lohajung. You can choose to stay 1N in Lohajung and 1N in Wan.
Departure after breakfast, our trek services will end at Lohajung.
Travel Tip: While traveling back you can go for the other route. The journey from Lohajung to Rishikesh is as long as it is from Kathgodam to Lohajung. Bus facilities to Delhi are much better at Rishikesh than it is at Kathgodam. You might want to celebrate the completion of the trek by rafting in Rishikesh.

Why we prefer private and small groups? We love to trek in smaller private groups as we believe that it gives the best ambience to experience the Himalayan spirituality, serenity, solitude and rawness. Small groups are also eco friendly, less noisy, safe, friendly, easy to manage and more caring towards each other. Most importantly, private groups are more focused towards their objective which is to enjoy being in the nature. We specialize in arranging customized private groups catering to the specific needs.
