Idyllic Haven homestay is located in Ganaup village in Binsar, run by Mr Sunder Singh Bora. Gaunap is a typical Kumaoni village nestling in the midst of rhododendron and pine forests of the Binsar reserve area.
Dhaulchhina (7 kms away from Gaunap) is the nearest village that has several small stores and a few restaurants. The Bora family can arrange for someone to fetch groceries for you. Basic medical facilities are available in Dhaulchhina, with a medical store where most of the common medicines are available.
Note: The nearest road-head is at Binsar TRH which is about 3 km from Gaunap village. Dhaulchhina, which is the nearest town is a 7 km trek from Gaunap.
By Road (Delhi-Amora): The other option to reach Almora from Delhi is to take an overnight bus. Buses start from Anand Vihar ISBT.
Road Route Delhi: Delhi - Almora - Dhaulchhina - Gaunap OR Delhi - Almora - Binsar TRH - Gaunap
From Almora: Dhaulchhina is also about 1 hr away from Almora by bus or car. Shared taxis are also available on the Almora-Dhaulchhina route. Gaunap is a 2.5 hrs trek from Dahualchhina. Ponies can be arranged for this stretch on extra payment.
By Train: The best way to get to Almora from Delhi is to take the Ranikhet express (train no. 5013) which leaves Old Delhi at 10.50 PM and reaches Kathgodam at 5.40 AM. Check Indian Railways for the latest train schedule. From Kathgodam shared taxis and buses are available to get to Almora. If hiring a car, you can get to Binsar TRH or Dhaulchhina from Kathgodam directly.
